Booking your very first facial can feel a little daunting. What do you wear? Will it hurt? What if your skin isn’t “good enough”? If any of that sounds familiar, take a breath – you’re exactly the kind of person we love welcoming to Ministry of Beauté. Here’s what actually happens, start to finish, so you can walk in relaxed.
Before you arrive
There’s no special preparation needed. Come with clean, product-free skin if you can, but don’t stress if you’re arriving straight from work – we’ll cleanse everything properly at the start. Skip harsh exfoliants or retinol for a day or two beforehand if you remember, but it’s not essential. And please don’t feel you need to “fix” your skin before coming in. Bringing us your real skin, exactly as it is, is the whole point.
The consultation
Every first facial begins with a proper chat. We’ll ask about your skin concerns, your current routine, any sensitivities or allergies, and what you’re hoping to achieve. This isn’t a sales pitch – it’s how we tailor the treatment to your skin rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach. If you’ve been unsure whether your skin is dry, oily, combination or sensitive, this is where we help you understand it.
The treatment itself
A classic facial usually follows a gentle sequence: a double cleanse, exfoliation to lift away dull surface cells, and often a gentle extraction if you have congestion or blackheads (we go slowly and never force the skin). From there, it’s a mask suited to your skin type, followed by serums, moisturiser and SPF. Many treatments also include a relaxing facial massage – this is the part most people melt into.
You’ll be lying comfortably the whole time, warm and unhurried. Some steps feel cool, some warm, some tingly – all of it gentle. If anything ever feels uncomfortable, just say so. Your comfort guides the pace.
Afterwards
Your skin may look a little flushed for an hour or two – that’s simply increased circulation, and it settles quickly, leaving you glowing. We’ll talk you through simple aftercare: keep it hydrated, wear SPF, and avoid heavy makeup for the rest of the day if you can. We’ll also suggest how often to come back based on your skin’s needs – never more than you actually need.
The most important part
A facial isn’t just skincare – it’s an hour that belongs entirely to you. In our women-only space in Kingsgrove, you can switch off completely. Whether you’re preparing for an event, managing a specific concern, or simply giving yourself some overdue care, you’re in gentle, experienced hands.
Ready to experience it for yourself? Book your first facial online – we can’t wait to meet you.
